Hi folks, if I add a sound card to my elderly pc (OK it's 5 yearsold butit still does almost everything I need at present) how do I disable the on board sound please?
(W2000; IBM Aptiva; Acer v75m m/board and Acer BIOS)
Tnx, yaesu

From the BIOS when you start the pc theres normally message that states press for setup hit that key then look for an entry that refers to onboard sound and switch it off

Tnx completealias, I'll try at next boot. The reason for a seperate card is that I'd like better sound but manual speaks of dire consequencws if different speakers are used!

Hi, On startup hold down Del key, this will open BIOS Main Menu, the Menu navigation controls are shown in the main window - Navigate through to Integrated Peripherals, then to OnChip Device Function, there you will see AC97 Sound Device, set this to Disabled.
