adding ram ddr

I want to add 256 mb ddr ram. However, when I puat it in on its own it says something about the registry and then crashes. If I put it in second to the original then it fires up but the memory is not recognised. Any ideas? The ram modules are different makes (Crucial and Kingston) They are running on a QDI Kudoz 7 M/B.

After adding the RAM boot into the BIOS and enable "Reset Configuration Data" save and exit.

What is your Operating System and How much RAM?

Anyway, if the one you're having trouble with is the kingston. Then it may be because some boards don't like it i think.
