Adding pdfs to a web page to download

Hi,

I am re doing my current web site and I want to take off a lot of the information to make it easier to read - just have the main points I want to get across. I am going to produce some pdf files that people can open and download if they want to.

What I need to know is how do I do this!!! I am using Dreamweaver but would be classed as a novice with a bit of experience ;)

My initial thought would be that I would have a pdf icon and descriptionn of the document and link that to the uploaded document and that would be it... surely its not that simple?

It is that simple - upload the pdf with your website and include a link to it on your page - when the user clicks on the link they get the 'open or save as' pop-up box. It also works with MS Word docs and loads of other stuff.

I never thought it would be that simple!! Nothing is ever that simple... thanks

to create a separate directory in your web for pdf's or other documents for download rather than just scattering them all in the root.

Keeps everything tidy
