I have an ASUS A7V8X mobo and have used both the Primary and Secondary master and slave channels.

Any recommendations on what card i could put in to add more ide channels?

I will have 3 hdd's and 3 optical drives, should I have all the hdd's on the main ide channels and the optical drives on the new ide channels?

tia.

you can buy a pci card that drives ide devices I suggest you look on dabs/novatech/watford etc.

With modern ide chips which support independent device timing, mixing hdd's and opticals is not the major problem that it once was.
However probably best to keep opticals of the primary ide, I have three optical and six hdd's. just a point not all ide cards support atapi devices (opticals) the promise tx2 does.
