i have an 80Gb hdd in my pc at the moment and i would like to put another one in the spare bay.
the only problem is the ribbon cable has only three connectors on it mobo, hdd, dvdrw.
the other dvd rom ribbon cable has a spare connector can i use this?
can you get ribbon cables with more than three connectors

Basically, Yes - you can juggle the connections on the ide cable(s) for best fit, but make sure jumpers are set accordingly.

PS - End connection on IDE cable is for Master, Middle connection for Slave.

at the moment my dvdrw is the on master and hdd is slave will i have to swap them around?
and with dvd rom on the second ribbon will it make any difference which one is master dvd rom or second hdd?

Always best to have Hard drive as Master DVD ROM as Slave. You can swap them around.
