hello
i am thinking of buying a dvdrw. currently i have a freecom cdrw 8x4x32 as yet not installed, a cd rom but no dvd rom. what are my best options?

One of the DVD Multiburners would be your best bet.

The LG4040B or Pioneer DVR106 are often recommended on this site. Go for the OEM if you already have burning software as this will save you a bit.

The DVD rewriter (- and +) would be the best and (for the moment at least) future proof bet, but add a DVD-ROM drive which can be used for CDs and DVDs for audio, films, installing software etc.

Rewriters should be kept purely for the task of burning as their lifespan is unpredictable and not noted for longevity (see manufacturers' websites specs for operation cycle figures).
