Adding a computer to a network

  TomG 19:53 03 Aug 03

I have two XP (Home Edition) PCs on a wireless network. I'm trying to add a PC with Windows 98 on it.

All is reasonably Ok but I cannot get internet access on the Win 98 machine. I've tried it with ICS installed and without (again on the 98 machine) though one website said that you do not need ICS on the client PC. A search of Microsofts Knowledgebase only came up with article 318030 (cannot access shared files or folders) but the solution didn't work.

Any suggestions please?

Do their share the same network name?

Are files on the 98 PC set to share?

Is the firewall disabled while you set up the sharing?

If all the above are "YES" then I've run out of ideas

Hope it helps

I tried setting up the network again with the firewall disabled - no difference.
I then tried setting up the network again from scratch - - and it worked first time???????

Thanks for the help
