Adding additional RAM memory

Can anyone advise me please - how difficult and complicated is adding extra RAM memory to my PC?
I'm always hesitant about opening up my PC but if it's something straightforward I can manage it.
Or am I safer letting a local engineer do it for me?
Also, before I go down this route - is there a way of checking the state of play of my hard drive? Or is the recomendation there that an engineer do the necessary?
Many thanks for any suggestions, advice, etc.

RAM is probably the easiest of all upgrade - if you go to Crucial.com/uk you can get the correct RAM for your machine and installing it is simplicity itself. Just make sure the machine is turned off at source.

As for the hard disk, the scan disk utility is probably as good as it gets. do you have any particular problems?

If I can do it (which I have), anybody can.

If you click here and enter the model of your PC it will tell you whhat RAM is suitable. They are a good company as well.

To find out what RAM slots are empty without opening the case click here
