action taken when new drive detected

how do i restore my previous setting of "take no action" whenever i load up an external drive? now it defaults to bringing up a display of the folders on the drive, which is irritating. I used to have it set to take no action when a new drive was detected, but dont know how to get the option box back again to change the setting.

Start... settings... control panel.. 'system'.. click Hardware tab... devices... find device, right hand click, properties... disable autorun etc....

Try associating a known file type relevant to the ones on your CD, with a programme. That might initalise the box again
