action cancelled

I wonder if anyone can help?
I'm using win xp and IE6. When I load certain websites I will get parts of the page missing with the message:- action cancelled internet explorer was unable to link to the webpage etc..
And also I'm not able to use 'ask Jeeves' at all. It just says webpage not available.
Have I got something switched off perhaps?

Possibly. If you had another of the free browsers installed you could then try that to establish whether its the browser or something else causing the trouble. I am currently using Mozilla v1.4 in preference to I.E.6. Tend to use Mozilla more often than IE because IE often causes me problems but I have to keep it because its the only browser I can to my bank with. Try downloading one of the free ones Mozilla, Opera or Netscape or load one from a magazine disc altho the mag disc versions tend to be out of date ones.
