Acronis TI 10

Trying to backup my laptop with Acronis TI 10 to my external hard drive, I end up with 4 separate backups. On my desktop I get one backup. Why?? Laptop is vista sp2 160 gb and 2 gb

I use version 9 and it does the same thing. No idea as both are ntfs, but it splits the Backup though I turned that off

I suspect the hard drive to which you are writing is FAT32, and it's a maximum file size of that drive...

No they are all NTFS

But will check that one out on my External USB, marbles not as good today as they was yesterday

The "you" I was referring to in my post was the O.P....

Certainly, if Acronis detacts a FAT32 drive, it'll write the saved files under the 4GB limit (and it often turns out at 2.7GB or thereabouts). I think it does this if ANY of the installed drives are FAT32.

Yes I agree, I think I set the External as you say to Fat 32 so I could also use it on my Win 98se Desktop Think the size worked out at about 4gig when I did it, But it ran out of room on the drive. The Drive is used on NTFS and Fat32

BJH was spot on, external drive was Fat 32. All OK now thanks.
