Acronis say that you should create emergency boot disks by saving to either diskettes, CD room " or other media"
Does other media include a USB memory stick for this ?

Probably will be ok if your machine can boot from USB - some can, others can't.

I'd play safe and go the CD ROM route if possible.

Thanks. Not sure wheher my machine will boot from usb? It is newish and am using W 2000 pro. Does this help ? The reason I ask as I do not have a writeable CD drive on that computer so I would either have to put one or use 10 disquettes

One way to check is to look in the BIOS - when you start the PC you should see something like "press del to enter setup". Within that there may be an option.

Installing a cd writer might be a good option; you can get a decent one for less than £30 nowadays and will be handy for backups.

The USB option is so that you can restore to or from USb hard-drives (of USB optical drives like DVD-ROM or CD-ReWritter)

Many thanks, mattyc_92 and Diodorus Siculus. As you say I am sure the best thing is to get install a CD writer in this machine
