Acer Laptop Problem

Would be grateful for any help solving this problem. When I switch on the laptop it goes through the start up process, gets to the password section. When I go to type in the password, the keys either don't respond or each letter typed shows several black dots per letter. Of course the laptop won't log on

Have you got the number lock on ? Try - Press the Fn key (next to the ctrl key) and the NumLk key ( F11 or F12)

when you type in password section it always shows you black dots.. if still not logged in check for "Caps Lock" and "NumLock"
