Acer laptop power

I have two Acer notebook computers - a 1350 with a mobile AMD CPU the other uses a 1.3 Centrino.

On the 1350 there are very specific instructions on how to prepare the battery and to avoid long-term use of the mains power pack after re-charging the battery.

On the Centrino Travelmate there are no specific instructions for the battery pack and charger / mains power supply.

I don't want to mess up the Travelmate battery by leaving the charger connected but I also don't want to be disconnecting the charger if it's not necessary.

Does anyone have any experience of these, or similar, models?
