Acer laptop battery charging

Hi I have an eight month old aspire 5741 laptop, inthe last week the battery has not charged more than 80%.

I switched on today and it was not charging at all, then the charging light started flashing along with the on off switch.

I have removed the battery and every thing works fine without it.

Has any body out there had similar problems, I'm wondering if the battery is failing.

battery should last longer than that if its only eight month from new. Try running it down just on battery about four times. Only charge with laptop switched off after each time you flatten it. Then see how it goes. Flatten to about 5% of battery left
