ACER Aspire X3200 Desktop - Dual Boot Problems

  John-1706252 13:31 19 Feb 11

Hello all, from a new subscriber,

I have recently purchased the ACER Aspire X3200 Desktop PC

I am running Win 7 Ultimate - 32bit.

I have tried to install a dual boot using Win 7 Ult & XP Home Premium.

I know how to do this as I have done it before on other desktops.

I have formatted the drive & re-partitioned it with at least 2 partitions with plenty of room in which to install both operating systems on separate partitions.

Howerver, when I tried to install the XP OS it refused to allow me to do it and when I installed Win 7 Ult onto the 1st partition and then tried to install the XP OS onto the 2nd partition I was not allowed to do this.

I assumed that I was able to install a dual boot system on any PC provided I had the necessary partitions & space.

Can anyone please shed any light as to why I cannot install a dual boot system on this particular make & model of desktop.

All advice & help will be greatly appreciated.

Happy weekend all.

XP first (as Windows doesn't like you trying to load an older system)

You probably need to load the SATA drivers at the F6 prompt before XP can see the drive.

once XP s on then you can install W7 to the second partition.
