Acer AL1721HS LCD monitor keeps turning on and off

  Blade Runner 17:20 25 Feb 05

Just installed above monitor with ATI Radeon 8500 64mb with Catalyst software, Win 2000, P4 2.4mhz, Asus P4T533 512mb RIMM Motherboard.
ATI card worked ok with CRT using VGA, Acer works ok using VGA, as soon as I connected through the DVI output the screen kept turning on & off and gradually doing it more frequently until once every 30 sec. Installed ATI catalyst and disabled VPU recover which improved the situation but not stopped it.
Any thoughts.

Power management settings?

Thanks Fruit Bat, tried every thing. Uninstalled all Acer and ATI programes. Reinstalled programes and downloaded latest drivers. Still same problem.
Using internet the screen is only rebooting every
3-6 mins, but Itried to use AquaMark3 to test speed of machine and the screen flashes on and off continuosly.
If it is a problem with the dvi out, I will have to consider a new graphics card.
Any ideas for a replacement card as MB (AGP Pro)AGP slot only supports a 1.5v AGP x4.
Any thoughts.

After a lot of swapping componants around with another computer, the monitor was ok, but the DVI out on the radeon 8500 was faulty. Got a XFX 6600 GT, monitor works and computer runs like a dream.
