Acer AL1714 TFT Monitor Problem

  highlands 12:07 27 Feb 09

I use an ACER AL1714 TFT Monitor on a desktop PC running Windows XP/SP3. Recently (intermittemtly) at power on from cold it has started to show tightly packed vertical colour lines. Switching the monitor off / on again has no affect. The PC is not yet turned on so it is not a graphics board problem. However, by unplugging the power adaptor from the mains and leaving it for about 10 mins then re-powering on, the monitor is OK and remains OK for several days before failing again. Normally the adaptor is left permanently powered on. Hence I suspected an overheating problem and planned to replace the adaptor (about £45). However, the adaptor supplier thinks it may be a monitor problem.

Has anyone experienced this? Can anyone suggest where the problem lies before I start spending?
