accidentally deleted recording device

Whilst playing around with audacity I "disabled" a microphone that i didn't know that I had. Now If I click on recording devices there are none shown and I still can't record using audacity as it says there is an error with the input. How would I restore the settings/drivers for the microphone that I didn't know I had? I am running Vista on an 8 mth old laptop.
Thanks!

Try a System Restore back to before you noticed the problem.

Try System Restore again, but in Safe mode ...

Or, if that does not work, Uninstall Audacity and then re-install it.
