ACCESSING 2ND HDD HAS BECOME SLOW?

I have a second hard drive say F: and I keep all files on here, photos, letters etc. To access I usually go Win and E and that brings up my computer, I then click on F: and usually it opens but recently it has taken ages and even says not responing but after waiting it opens. Today its working normally but if I lose access I am scuppered.

Is this a sign HDD is on the way out, 4+ years old?

And should I invest in an external USB HDD for backup?

help!

You should always have a backup if your data is valuable to you.

Try running a defrag and disk check on the drive
