Access Spell Check Problem

I can't get spell check to work in MS Access 2000. Even though I know there are mis-spelled words in the database, when I click of the Spellcheck icon, I immediately get a message saying "Spell check complete".

I haven't inadvertently added the misspelled words to the dictionary

I haven't chosed to disable the spell check on certain fields.

I tried creating a new database with mis-spellings but the problem persists.

I tried re-loading Access from the CD but still no joy.

I don't have a problem with the spellchecker in any other MS aplications.

Incidentally, autocorrect works fine in Access.

Any solution?

Many thanks

MJD

Try: Help/Detect and Repair in Access, you may need the Office disc for this.

Is your data in upper case? If so the spellcheck may be set to ignore words in upper case. To change this option, temporarily type a misspelled word in lower case in your table and click the spellchecker. When the dialog box appears, select options and untick the Ignore Words in Upper Case option.

:) (beat me to it VoG™! - I don't know how to paste the Knowledge base links - how do you do that?)

Thanks to all for suggestion. However, I tried all those options and still Spell Check will not work in MS Access. Any other suggestions welcomed.

Are you selecting the data that you want to check for spelling errors before you click the spellcheck button? Access doesn't work like Word, it doesn't check the whole document automatically. Select the fields and data you want to check and then try clicking on the spellcheck button.

Scott,

Thanks for the reply. However I've tried all that and it still doesn't work.

Which view are you using when you do the spellcheck?

Scott.
