ACCESS TO REGISTRY

I am trying to upgrade to Office XP from Office 2K and mid way received message " Error 1402. Setup cannot open registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Currentversion\Run\OptionalComponents\Imail verify use have sufficient poermission". I was logged in a Administrator.
So, I thought I would unistal Win2k and do a full instal and I received this message
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\windows\Curentversion\Run\OptionalComponents\MSFS verify you have sufficient access to that Key.."

When I access the registry the files Imail& MSFS are not listed.

Help. Other than reformatting, how else can I instal Office XP? Do I really need to upgrade to Win XP before loading Office XP?
