Access query - need to count items

I have created a complex data query but I need to show in the first column a sequesntial number, starting at 1, so that I can compare a printout of a query with a revised version later on. How can I acheive this, please?

You may be able to use this technique in a report.

It doesn't put it in the query but should display in your report.

Suggest you use a report for your query and print that using the RunningSum Property

Thanks all. I was hoping to do it in the query rather than go to a full report, but it looks like I have no option.
