Access locking during development work

My PC is locking up frequently while developing an Access database for a charity. The locking generally occurs when trying to save a modified form or query, or when switching views between design and open. The problem seems to have started when I replaced our printer, HP Deskjet 845c for HP Deskjet F4180. The printer is connected to my wife’s PC and we have an Ethernet link via a router.

I have tried running a full virus scan with our installed AVG (no alerts), cleaning up the hard drive with CCleaner, running Ad-Aware and also defragmenting the hard drive. The Access database is compacted very regularly.

Do you still have the 845c listed under Printers, if so try uninstalling it and make sure Access recognises the F4180.
