Access Denied

I was running Me on my PC and networking with a RISC PC and was able to view PC files on the RISC Pc and write to the XP PC's harddisc as long as the folder was shared.
I have now upgraded to a New PC running XP.and connected it instead of the original PC running Me.

I can ping both ways on the network and can send print files from the RISC PC to be printed by the Windows XP machine (as before) but each time I try to access/view the shared folders from the RISC PC which are hold on the PC's harddrive I receive "Access Denied" message.

Can anyone help me overcome this problem.
I am using ethernet(LAN) and a cross over cable.

Microsoft help indicates that I should be able to Grant incoming connection access rights by opening NETWORK CONNECTIONS, clicking INCOMING CONNECTIONS and then under NETWORK TASKS click CHANGE SETTINGS OF THIS CONNECTION on the GENERAL tab then under INCOMING CONNECTIONS in DEVICES click the check boxes next to the devices through which incoming conections can connect etc., the above does not exist on my XP machine. !!!!
