Access to computer log on screen

Hi all. I've had a replacement Logitech keyboard/mouse and have had a few problems with it in terms of downloading/accepting drivers etc. I've now re-installed them & was advised to re-start, but now find I can't log on, no cursors will work & am unable to enter any password into the screeen. I've tried a wired keyboard/mouse but its the same (I can't get into safe mode & the likes) Any one any ideas?

With PC booted (power to USB)

Press the pairing buttons on both the hid device and the keyboard / mouse.

Then see if the keyboard will work?

What kind of wired board?

have you got a PS2 keyboard? don't forget a PS2 board must only be conneted / disconnected with the PC off or you may blow the PS2 port on the board.

Yes, I've done the pairing etc & the board is a Dell. But its still the same.

The board is a Dell/ps2.

The PS2 port may have been disabled in BIOS

difficult to switch back on when the keyboard doesn't work :0)

try resetting BIOS by removing CMOS battery for 10 minutes, refit and reboot, see if your keyboard works then.
