I have an Access 97 Database, on one form I have dropdown list box which is populated by file names from a query. I can count the total number of file names but I need to be able to click on any file name and get its position in the list, i.e. 5, 12, or whatever. I have tried to use the Absolute Position Property but I can not get it to work, can you help me. BJG,

An interesting question!

One day FE will shoot me for doing it, but I like to recommend my favourite Access problems site at...

They have a wealth of Access expertise there.

try the coboboxs .listindex on the after update event. However this will only give you the position in the combobox, not in the recordset.
