My AC adapter overheats when I use my laptop. It does not overheat as I charge the laptop when its switched off. When on, the screen freezes up. Could it be the AC adaptor or is it the laptop battery? Thank you

What make and model is your laptop?

Do you mean that the charger gets very hot when in use on your laptop as most do. My previous laptops charger got so hot I couldnt pick it up after it being on for any amount of time. However this was totally normal (apparantly).

What do you mean freezes up on the screen?

second one of these in a week.

the adaptor on any applience will only get excssively hot if its drawing too much current.

If its charging and running lptop at same time it will be at its hottest.

should cool as battery is fuly charged and therefore only running laptop

approx sme temp when only charging with laptop off.

My IBM and HP laptop adaptors get quite hot at tops bt you should be ble to hold them without fear of burning.

If you think it ges too hot then take adaptor and laptop back.

Its a Sony Vaio VGN FS315S. No, just the AC adaptor plug gets hot. The screen and mouse gets stuck and wont move till i disconnect from power source.
