A7V33 Motherboard Question ???

Hi there,

I am thinking of upgrading my CPU on my Asus A7V33 Motherboard.

I currently have a AMD Athlon 2200XP.

I am wondering what AMD Athlon XP processor can my motherboard support up to?

Also, I see some of the processors have names like Thoroughbred or Barton after them - what does this mean and will this affect my decision?

Any help will be much appreciated :)

It says...

Socket A for AMD®: Athlon XP/ Athlon/ Duron 600MHz ~ 2GHz+

So does that mean I can put in a AMD Athlong 3000XP?

you can install an 3000Xp, but I don't think you will see any benefit! because of the FSB note only shows as 266/200 To run the 3000XP you need a board with a FSB of 400!

Ok now I've seen this one for sale, which has a 266 FSB... click here

And using this tool click here^7923,00.html from the AMD web site, my motherboard came listed as a recommended Motherboard for this processor (I think).

However, my motherboard is listd twice, but with different revision numbers... what does this mean?

And how do I find out the revision number of my motherboard?

Actually, having double checked both those web sites - the processor I have found for sale has a 256K L2 Cache, and using the tool from the AMD web site, there are two separate moddels of that processor and the one with the 256k does not support my motherboard :(
