A20 Address Line Warning

  frostysnowman 23:02 01 Sep 06

I have recently built a system based on an A8V-VM board. This has the Via K8M890 Chipset. The Bios has been flashed with the latest version (401).

If I try and boot with the Partition Magic 8.0 Floppy Disk I get the message:

Himem Sys: Warning Address Line A20 already enabled.

Does anybody have any advice on this please. I read somewhere that there is an option for this in the Bios but I cannot find anything regarding an Address line A20 in my Bios.

I also have a problem with the boot CD for Acronis True Image. Here it gets to the loader screen then just freezes and I have to restart the machine.

Also my system seems to be running slow and when I checked my Bios it stated that my IDE drive was set at UDMA 5,. However on boot up it states that this drive is set at UDMA 3, but if I check the device in Windows it says that the current Transfer Mode is UDMA 5 again.

Thanks for any advice on the above.

On the PM floppy, in the config.sys file - try removing the himem.sys line - or put REM in front of it.
