98 to XP?

  wednesday 13 10:15 29 May 05

I have a fairly old PC running on 98 and one downstairs on XP. I have heard that upgading older PCs to XP could cause problems but could be possible to have 98 and XP on the same PC and how?

Hope you can help,

Yes, it is possible to have both but a lot will depend on the specification of the machine.

Do you know what the processor speed and the amount of RAM are in the machine?

Anything less than 750Mhz and 256mb RAM are not good for XP; a finely tuned Win98 will be better.

Heres what XP Home needs- from the Microsoft website click here however I'd take their minimum requirements with a pinch of salt, it will run on the minimum but it'll be slow.

It was too risky.
