Hi, when installing an 8800gt i've hooked up the two molex connectors to my power supply but there's a grey wire coming from both of them stuck together, can anyone tell me what this is please?

Its probably a common ground. Dont worry about it. Just make sure the 2 molex connectors are on seperate lines out of the PSU and are not attached to connectors with FAN ONLY written on them.

shauntaylor,

can I ask what PSU you have fitted and what is the amperage across the rails?.

Why I ask,I have a thread running regarding a replacement PSU to power a BFG 8800GT card.
My PSU only supplies 18amp,and according to BFG their card requires 28amps.

Cheers

The minimum requirement for a single GT is 400W and 24A on the +12V. You can add the 12v amp rails together if your PSU has more than one like this 600w OCZ click here
