802.1x port

Hi there,

I want to purchase a couple of computers to go on a network. The connections to the network will be via 802.1x ports.

I have been told by one person that to use this connection I would need XP pro - whereas someone else has said that XP home should be fine.

Cold someone please clarify. Thanks in advance

802.1x is a network authentication protocol. What type of network are you trying to connect to?

"Home Edition" does have the option to "Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network" in the Local Area Connection Properties - screenshot from XP Home click here
