80 Conductor Cable

All i get when i turn on my pc is a quick glimpse of a message saying something like, error 80 conductor cable not installed the machine seems to work fine and everything but just wondered what this was, as i didnt want it leading to any damage , its a 1.7Gz AMD, 512Mb RAM, 2 x 20Gb HDD with about 25GB spare space on those togehter

thanks a lot for any help or ideas

It probably means, you have a 40 strand data cable rather than an 80 strand. Each cable has the same number of pin connections, so they are interchangeable. However, the chances are, you will not be getting full performance from your hard drive.
