6.1 Speaker settings in XP

I have a Creative Audigy 2 Platimun EX sound card and 6.1 speakers.

The Creative software is configured for 6.1 and all tests work fine.

However, In the Windows control panel, there is no setting for 6.1, only 5.1 and 7.1. When I boot my PC, it defaults to 7.1 and I have to manually change it to 5.1 EVERY time in order to get my EAX games to work properly (Call of Duty and GTA: VC in particular).

Getting to be a right pain. Can anybody suggest anything?

The top link was looking promising but their was no follow up reply to say if it worked , I dont think this will help you too much the only other thing I could suggest is to contact creatives customer support which I have delt with before with another device and they are really good and quick, let me no how you get on and if I find anything else I will be sure to post good luck

XP may be overriding the Creative settings.
