512mb memory,crucial says 1024mb?

Hi, just bought a barebones with 512mb ram,bought an extra 512mb to put in spare slot,PC system in control panel says 1gb(just under).Downloaded belarc advisor which says i have 2 slots with 1024mb each!!!same goes for Crucial,whats happening,anybody advise please.
PS. system running ok just wondering about difference.

Sounds a little weird to me,try Everesthome.Let us know how you get on.

If the memory is single sided chips, then this can confuse some diagnostic programmes.

Everest is good, use the spd. Also use cpu-z click here and check the spd tab. Use the drop down box to check both modules.
