5.1 speaker problems

  Sloath 11:43 17 Mar 03

I am running 5.1 Videologic ZXR550 speakers on a Soundblaster Audigy card. I can only get the left, right and sub speakers to work and not the centre or rear speakers.

I am sure I have got the cables plugged into the correct sockets.

What am I doing wrong?

The media you play needs to support 5.1 surrond sound. If it doesn't, then you will only get sound from the front 2 -channels.

Have you tried playing anything with 5.1 surrond sound, such as a DVD?

You can test your speaker setup with your Creative Diagnostics software.

With the creative install, should have been the creative audio HQ or something similar. That will allow you to test the five speakers by sending a sound through each one detailing what it is - front left, centre and so on.

Also check in the advanced section of sound / multimedia (or equivalent) in the control panel which will allow you to put configure surround sound.
