Just upgraded to w2k from 98se on 2 pc's. I pc went fine, t'other a bit problematical. I need to update 4 device drivers and the only info I can get from system info is:

System Information report written at: 12/05/2003 14:29:46
[Problem Devices]

Device PNP Device ID Error Code
NT Apm/Legacy Interface Node ROOT\NTAPM\0000 22
Multimedia Audio Controller PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7018&SUBSYS_70181039&REV_02\2&EBB567F&0&0C 28
PCI Device PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7013&SUBSYS_70131039&REV_A0\2&EBB567F&0&0E 28
Video Controller (VGA Compatible) PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_6300&SUBSYS_63001039&REV_31\3&35E97821&0&0010 28

Does this make any sense? How can you tell what makers and what drivers from this?

You should be able to get most of the info you need from System/Device manager and then tracking them down via model numbers on google.More detailed info can be obtained by running Aida32.

The devices you list are probably sound, graphics, modem maybe - the usual suspects, really.

You could also goto
Control Panel\System\Hardware\Device Manager and disable the devices that you see with a 'yellow ?' and also look into the properties of the ones marked with a 'red X' to see if there is a conflict.
If there is a conflict then you can have a go at changing a to a different setting in the properties section - take a note of what it is set at first. You will see a box near the bottom of the properties window that says either that there is a conflict or that there is no conflict when your settings are correct.
If changing the settings does nothing then leave making sure that you have the settings you started with. Take a note of the device make and any numbers that go with it and then go to click here and type in drivers for the user name and all for the password and follow the search guide till you get the drivers that you need for the problematic devices that you have or if you can't get access to the Internet at the moment ask someone else to get them for you.
After all tis it is possible you may have some device or other that will not run under Windows 2000. You will have no option than to change the device or go back to your previous version of Windows - that's Microsoft for you.
I presume you realize as well that Windows 2000 demands a minumum 300MHz Cyrix processor and 64Mb RAM (128Mb is much better). Good luck. Windows 2000 is worth persevering with.
