3.5 Audio Jack/Plug to USB

I want to transfer from audio tape onto my pc. I've got a 3.5 Audio Jack/Plug to USB cable and some recording software.

When I put in the cable the pc is not recognizing the device.

I think I need a driver but where and which one. Please help

I can't see how a USB port can make sense of analogue audio. Surely what you need to do is feel the audio into your sound card audio in jack and get the computer to read it from there.

As i understand it you can take the headphone out from your tape deck and connect it to the line in on your sound card.

Use this type of cable as send12me post. Available in several lengths.

Try part no 35450 as page displays wrong.

Surely a 3.5mm stereo jackplug to 3.5mm stereo jackplug lead from the audio tape deck to the line-in of the sound card will do the trick?
