2G on a Asus K8V DELUXE

  O-NO 10:08 22 Apr 05

Can anyone advise me if 2G of DDR PC3200 will run @ the full Mhz?

The board will support upto 3G but having already tried 3x512 PC3200 resulted running @ a reduced Mhz.

I have done a Google which has not given me a clear answer to date.

AMD 64 3700

When you say 'reduced speed' what speed did it read and what did you use to measure it ?

Also (I always forget to add important things before I post) what make is th RAM you have tried ?

I benched using 3DMARK03 that resulted in a lower score and was told this was due to A64 been unable to handle more than 2 dimms of @ DDR 400.

Ram used was 2 sticks of NANYA & 1 stick of compatible SAMSUNG.

Your answers appear to be right there.

'A64 been unable to handle more than 2 dimms of @ DDR 400.' It does not appear to be a Mobo fault.

And you should not mix different makes of RAM.

Thanks Indigo 1.....Any idea if 2G will run at DDR400 (1G in each dimm)?

Hi O-NO,

I've just checked the K8V manual, and with only two DIMMS installed as long as one of them is in the DIMM1 slot, i.e. the first slot on the board, then both will run at 400mhz.

Hi Rigga..........thanks for that.

Correct me if I am wrong but haven't you got a Mesh PC?..........I think you have advised me before on mine.

You are correct, I have a Mesh PC, the same motherboard, with a 3200+ processor.
