Hi, just bought a second hand pc for a mate and the hard-drive is listed as a fujitsu MPE4204At , which is a 20Gb HDD. Win XP is only listing it as 8GB, any ideas how to get it to recognise it's real size? Also the 1.4GHz chip is shown as 1.02 GHz. Any help will be gratefully received, as always. Thanks

Delete the main partition & repartion it. Sometimes when a hard drive is partitioned on another Pc, the Pc it is actually going into won't C the H\Drive as what it should B.

i would enter the bios and click set up to default and reboot hoping that windows might recognise its full size.failing that upate windows click here and update your motherboard chipset drivers also.last resort a bios flash.

use click here to identify your hardware, its very good.

hard drive and motherboard/bios info would be helpful

you say 1400mz,is it pentium or amd?i have an amd athalon 1400 but it actualy runs at 1.05mz,but i have been told it is sold as a 1400 (note not 1400 mz)because it is the same power as a 1400mz pentium.if you have a pentium then check bios settings, you might need to change it or download bios update(a bit more difficult)

I am a bit of a novice myself, but i was recently shown a utility called "Belarc advisor" which only takes a couple of minutes to download (free). Running the application which takes about 15 seconds then gives you a report on what is inside your machine right down to the serial numbers etc.
