2 sound cards & two sets of speakers - Win XP

Hi,

I don't really know how to explain this but I'll try. What I want to be able to do is use my 'TFT stereo speakers' for all 'Windows sounds' such as warnings etc.

AND

Use my Creative 5.1 surround sound speakers for all other activities, such as music or videos etc.

I'm prepared to install two sound cards but don't know how to configure my system to tell it which sound card to use for what activity etc.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks, Ash

I've never heard of anyone wanting to do this and to be honest I don't think it is possible. I've never heard of a PC running with 2 sound cards.

I may be wrong and others may have an idea as to how to do it but I don't think what you are proposing is possible.

The only reason i want to be able to do this is so that i don't have to switch the main speakers on (unless i want to listen to music etc.) everytime i switch pc on (the switch is on the subwoofer which is underneath the desk.)
