I am getting a new PC. At present I have Talktalk broadband connected to my first computer. I need to to transfer this connection to my new computer. Talktalk have advised that I install their disc on the new PC - click additional computer - and enter my original account number when requested. My question is at what point do I disconnect from the old PC and connect to the new PC or, alternatively, is there a splitter that will allow me to have both machines connected temporarily at the same time?

Ideally you need a router to have both pc's connected and sharing the internet.

(It is possible to share the connection by networking the 2 pc's using crossover cable, but you need the pc that's attached to the modem to be on before the second pc can access the connection. Much easier with a router)
