2 lan/ ethernet ports

always puzzled me why do some motherboards have 2? i have an nvidia one and a gigabyte one they both perform the same so why 2?

Well, on mine I have one connection to my Router and the other one to a Print Server although I could have just used the wireless connection on the print server.

think i understand, it's basically to connect to 2 different networks? such as a local one and the internet? i just dont get when you would need to use the 2 together.
