I have a Sony AD 5340S (SATA) DVDRW drive on my PC and also a LiteOn DVD drive.

I have Nero InCD v 5 installed. The LiteOn works perfectly but I cannot InCD format any disc in the Sony which has an up to date driver (v1.03)

Here is the latest InCD error.log report:

Not solving your problem, but why do you want to format?

Was the copy of Nero bundled with the LiteOn drive, because they do tend to 'lock' bundled software to the drive it was supplied with? If purchased independently then it should work with any drive. Does the Nero burning software work with the Sony drive?

  bruckshaw 17:25 27 Jul 10

The Nero was not a bundled copy. It contains no coding for a particular drive. It was supplied at the same time as the Sony drive but the InCD facility will not work with thata drive whereas it does work with the LiteOn.

The NERO burn facility does work with the Sony drive. It is the InCD I want to use for historical reasons.

I have asked Ahead for help but all they can say it is either out of date firmware or incomaptible media. Both were checked before I asked for help.

How up to date is the InCD version - I think the latest is version 9.

InCD will not work with "any drive" - it'll work with drives that are compatible with it. A SATA drive may well be too new for older versions of InCD.

Here's a (slightly) newer version -

May be compatible with more drives.

Personally I wouldn't use InCD for all the problems it's caused over the years.

I'm pretty sure that you must have RE-Writable discs to use InCD... plain old CDRs wont work...

As usual, I'm open to correction!!

what o/s are you using, I was a great fan of INCD till I moved to w7 then found I prefer W7 own files better than using INCD.
