Hi all, I have a 1tb hdd installed. I was running win xp on it and duel booted win7 on another hdd. I had a boot registry failure happen. After fixing the boot registry the 1 tb hdd running win xp is now only read as 64gb. Can this be fixed or do you think the hdd is damaged.

Check in BIOS that LBA is enabled and also check EnableBigLba value is defined and set properly in the Windows registry.

What file system is it shown as in disk management? Should be NTFS.

Start, Run, type regedit press ok

On leftside: System Key: [HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Atapi\Parameters]

On right side:

Value Name: EnableBigLba

Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)

Value Data: it will say 0x0000000 and in brackets (0) = disabled, (1) = enabled

To change the value to (1) rightclick on EnableBigLba and choose Modify
