Hi - I am looking for a dedicated server, and have found 2 providers - Netcetera and 123-Reg.

What do you think is the better for speed/performance etc?

1.8Ghz dual core, with 1Gb of RAM
or
2.8Ghz single processor, with 2Gb of RAM

Thanks for any suggestions,

Mark

Personal I would go with the

2.8Ghz single processor, with 2Gb of RAM

Thanks ambra4 - is this because more memory has much more impact than a slightly faster processor?

Dual core processors work best when software can run in parallel on them.

Relatively little multithreaded software is used on standard office and home computers, so the purchase of a high-end dual core processor is rarely justified.

So that the 2.8Ghz single processor, with 2Gb of RAM would run faster than the

1.8Ghz dual core, with 1Gb of RAM

Hope that help don't be taken up by all the talk about single via dual

My pc a 1.8Ghz single processor with 1Gb of RAM
run faster than my son 1.8Ghz dual core, with 1Gb of RAM using the same software
