16 bit windows subsystem dialogue box pop up

hi when i start my windows xp machine after its all loaded up i get a dialogue box which pops up and has the following message

16 bit windows subsystem
c:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXCEC.NT this system file is not suitable for running MS DOS and microsoft windowsapplications - chose close to terminate the application

im not sure when it started but ive not long done the sp2 upgrade

any ideas if its bad or just irritating?
or how do i get rid of it

ive had a look and ive got a time xp machine
the disks ive got are a system and driver cd
or a reload backup cd
which one do i use or it it something else?
or would i be worth putting sp2 back in
