I`m trying to sort out a friends PC again,

No access to web, Norton Disabled, vrs crashes and error messages.

suspect programes are lime share and incredisearch.

whilst I know lime share is P2P software is it more deadly than kazaa as he managed to grind the PC to a halt in 4 days. Also is there a way to fully remove this nasty piece of work?

System restore?

  TECHNODIMWIT 10:46 05 Mar 04

system restore has lost all restore points.

suspect fdisk and format required.

Might be worth running Adaware, SpyBot S+D etc if you can on the machine. Probably time for a reformat though.

I think incredisearch could be the source of your problems. Look at this forum for a discussion on how to remove it click here

running WinME.

neither adaaware or spybot loaded will try to load from CD, but think it could be a lost cause.

FDISK

Format

Reinstall.

This time though, leave the file sharing software OFF the machine.

Taran, Its not me installing P2P, but kids will find it no matter what we do.

Gongoozler, i think Tarans right, time to start again.

last time he killed it, there was over 25 000 files in the temp folder, I dread to think this time.

I didn't mean the above to seem quite as harsh as it may have appeared.

If I just had a pound for every P2P fault related system that comes my way...

;o)

you wernt harsh, but i might be if he kills it again.

1st time 3 months, then 1 month, now he kills it in a week.

Where is my baseball bat ;0)
