Hi again,

Still on the subject of upgrading my PC,
im going to get an extra 1Gb of RAM for my system so this will give a total of 1256 Mb RAm. Can anybody tell me if this will make a noticable difference in performance to what it was like with only 256 Mb of RAM.

Thank you

What do you think...:-)

Of course it will.

Hi, yes it will make a noticeable difference, but make sure you get the correct type etc. Not sure if you can just stick in another Gb and expect it to work. I would advise you to run a scan at click here before doing anything else.

ive got a Pc with the same type of RAM in it as what i need so im going to take one of the 256 MB sticks out of there for now until i get my new stuff but once ive taken one of the two sticks out of the old PC when i turn it on will it just load up like normal just a bit slower?

Yes, it should.

fyi

if you only surf/music etc no intense video work or gaming
512mb is enough, you will notice little difference if any between 512mb and 1256mb
the biggest difference ive found was 256mb to 512mb
then going to 1 gig negligble difference

Well ive got the option to have a free 256Mb stick of DDR2 RAM, my machine is DDR so is it OK to try this together?

Thanks

check that your motherboard can take 1GB ram some motherboards can't take it so it would be a waste of money

Is it OK to have 256 of DDR and 256 of DDR2?

Thanks

May work, may not, Depends on your motherboard!
